SYMAP® ECO

Digital single-genset controller and protection

SYMAP® ECO is a digital single-genset control and protection device built on the SYMAP® hardware platform, with a large graphic LC display and function keys. It is easy to operate and program.

Protection and control functions (ANSI)

  • ANSI 15, Matching device
  • ANSI 25/A, Automatic synchronising (check-sync)
  • ANSI 27 / 27B, Undervoltage (generator / bus)
  • ANSI 32, Overload
  • ANSI 46/RP, Reverse phase / rotor protection
  • ANSI 50 / 51, Overcurrent (instantaneous / time)
  • ANSI 59 / 59B, Overvoltage (generator / bus)
  • ANSI 81, Frequency protection
  • ANSI 94, Auxiliary voltage supervision
  • Reverse power; prealarm/shutdown levels (U/f/P)

Genset control

  • Genset start-stop sequence; AUTO and MANUAL operating modes
  • Direct communication with the engine control unit (ECU) over CAN-Bus
  • Supported protocols: DEUTZ, VOLVO, SCANIA, J1939; MTU via CANBUS 2
  • Single-line display (busbar and breakers) on screen

Source transfer and synchronisation

  • Automatic mains failure (AMF): control of mains and generator breakers
  • overlap return to mains by back-synchronisation, with no power interruption (no-break)
  • over gap return to mains with a small interruption (open transition)
  • Supervision: alarm on back-synchronisation failure

Parallel operation with the mains is only momentary, during transfer; not for continuous grid-parallel operation.

Measurement and I/O

  • 3 × CT (generator current), 3 × PT (generator voltage), 3 × PT (bus voltage)
  • Energy and power metering; harmonics up to the 5th
  • Binary inputs (24 V DC) and binary outputs (including a "Sync ON" output)
  • Digital and analog outputs to switchboard controls

Communication

  • RS232 (front panel), programming and data output
  • RS485 MODBUS RTU to the supervisory/central system
  • CAN-Bus interface to the engine control unit (ECU)

The device provides no remote access; PC access is password-protected with operational timeout.

Recording and supervision

  • Recording unit: event history, detailed protection history, start/stop history
  • Permanent data store (independent of power supply)
  • Binary input supervision: wire break and short circuit; additional limits

Standards (type tests)

  • EMC: EN 61000-6-2 (immunity), EN 61000-6-4 (emission)
  • Vibration: IEC 60068-2-6
  • Measuring relays: IEC 60255
  • Degree of protection: IEC 60529

Typical applications

Standby gensets

AMF / automatic source transfer

Auxiliary and pump stations

Industry and buildings
