Protection and control for hydro generation
For hydropower plants SYMAP® solutions cover generator unit protection and control, synchronization, grid decoupling, transformer protection, feeder protection, excitation and reactive power monitoring, communication with the supervisory system and event/fault recording.
For a single generation unit or a grid connection with Grid Code requirements, SYMAP® Compact+ GC is considered for NA protection, EZA/PPC functions, synchronization, voltage and frequency monitoring and communication with the supervisory system. For hydro plants with multiple units, parallel operation, island operation, bus-tie logic or load sharing, the corresponding SYMAP® BCG/ECG variants are considered for Power Management and coordination of generator groups.
Which SYMAP® for this application?
For the grid connection of a single hydro unit with Grid Code requirements, SYMAP® Compact+ GC is considered. For generator protection and control, the corresponding SYMAP® G configuration is used, while for multiple units in parallel operation, load sharing, island mode and bus-tie logic, the SYMAP® BCG/ECG variants are considered. For transformers, feeders, auxiliary motors, DC supplies and dedicated connections, the corresponding T, F, M, DC, D or LD variants are used according to the function in the scheme.
