Industrial motors are critical assets in process plants, mines, cement plants, refineries, marine and offshore installations, water utilities and infrastructure. Motor failure impacts process continuity, safety and operating cost, so motor protection covers not only overcurrent and thermal functions, but also breaker or contactor control, interlocking, diagnostics and SCADA/DCS integration.
The SYMAP® platform unifies protection, control, measurement, monitoring, communication and diagnostics of the motor bay in one device. Configuration is defined by motor type, starting method, required CT/VT inputs, RTD and analog diagnostics, the number of digital and relay signals, and monitoring requirements.
SYMAP® features a broad base functional package matched to the motor application. In SYMAP® Compact+, the configuration covers hardware options (CT/VT, Ig, DI/DO, communication modules) and software/application options in the Order Code; advanced functions such as 87M differential, distance 21 or specific communication options are selected as separate items. In the classic SYMAP® series (Y/BC/M), the available functions follow from the selected hardware and variant build.
When a function is available in the selected configuration, the user can use it concurrently with the other available functions, no limits on the number of active protections, no protection "points", no licensing of simultaneous use.

Classic SYMAP® Y-M covers most motor applications with advanced thermal model, restart inhibit logic and locked rotor protection. SYMAP® Compact+ (+F1/+F2/+F3) is the right choice for compact motor bays requiring integrated contactor or breaker control, interlocking and SCADA/DCS integration.
