SYMAP^® devices are available with type approvals from leading class societies, including LR, ABS, DNV, BV, CCS, PRS, NK, RINA and KR.

A marine power system covers generators, transformers, switchboards, cable connections, motors, propulsion and thruster drives, DC supplies, battery systems, PMS, communication and arc-flash protection; the SYMAP^® variant is therefore selected according to the function of the device in the system, not as a single universal relay for everything.

For more than 50 years, stuckeGROUP has supplied protection and control systems for ocean-going vessels. The SYMAP^® product family, together with predecessor SYNPOL^® and OEM variants such as HIMAP, is installed on container ships, tankers, gas carriers, bulk carriers, and RoRo and passenger ships worldwide.

Which SYMAP^® for marine power systems?

For marine and offshore power systems, SYMAP^® solutions cover generator protection and control, Power Management, synchronization, load sharing, bus-tie logic, feeder protection, motor protection, transformer functions, DC supplies, battery/hybrid functions and communication with supervisory systems.

A typical variant choice depends on the function of the device in the system: G / BCG / ECG for generator and PMS applications, F for feeder cells, M for motors, T for transformer functions, DC for DC systems and BAT for battery/hybrid applications. Where critical cable or line connections between switchboards, line ends or marine/offshore distribution panels are involved, LD is considered as a dedicated variant for line differential protection 87L.

For retrofit projects, the existing SYMAP^®/HIMAP architecture, schematic, I/O signals, communication channel, optical or multiplexer link and mechanical installation are checked separately.
